Our feed refreshes at 6:15 a.m. UTC, Monday through Friday. Before an update, and over weekends or holidays, the latest available quote may be from an earlier day. Values are rounded to the nearest cent.

What the karat tells you

Karat measures gold in 24 parts. 14K is 14 parts in 24, about 58.3% gold. This table uses the common 585 fineness convention, so its 14K value represents 58.5% gold. An actual item's assay can differ.

Sterling silver is 92.5% silver, usually marked 925. The balance is other metals. These values cover the gold or silver content only, using the daily spot quote. Read the FTC's explanation of karat and sterling silver.

Which ounce?

Precious metals use the troy ounce, about 31.1035 grams. The ounce used for groceries is about 28.35 grams. Here, “per troy ounce” means one troy ounce of the named alloy, including its other metals.

Our daily gold and silver quotes come from GoldAPI. A quote from another stored reference is labeled separately. Gold and silver can have different quote dates.
